Homework

Hand in: 29th January 2020

English: This week’s English homework is to find out some information about any volcano. Present this information however you would like. You will need to use a heading and subheadings. One way to make your writing even more interesting is to add conjunctions such as: before, although, if, so, while

Maths: Answer the questions on length. There is a challenge at the bottom that you can try if you would like!

If you read 3 times a week, every week this term you will get an extra play time! Reading checks will be done on Friday.

English: This week’s English homework is to create a poem about animals leaving the zoo. Try to do at least two stanzas Write it in the style of Simon Pitt.

(Example: The pink pigs grunted off,

The greedy goats skipped off,

The stripy tigers growled off,

The cheeky monkeys swung out.

Maths: Complete the sheet to convert centimetres to metres. Remember there are 100cm in 1 metre.

English: Complete the synonyms sheet! Remember the beautiful handwriting you do at school should also be in your Homework book!  

Maths: Complete the 3 and 4 times tables sheets. See if you can remember all of your 3 and 4 times without looking! Ask your grown-ups to test you!

Hand in: 6th November 2019

English: Practise your High Frequency Words – those in green are ones we need to focus on getting correct every time in our writing. (Pick up to 10 to focus on over half term)

Maths: Practise times tables on TT Rockstars for at least 20 minutes, after half term we will be looking at 3s, 6s, 4s and 8s so let’s make sure our 2s, 5s and 10s are super speedy!

Geography: We will be looking at the different countries around the world. Choose any country and find out some interesting facts about it. Present what you find any way you would like: poster, advert, booklet, a story!

English: Tell me about a book you have read recently, persuade me to read it! (This only needs to be 3 or 4 lines!)

Maths: Complete the number formation – make sure all your numbers are the correct way round and formed properly – then practice the numbers 2 more times in your homework book. If you would like to challenge yourself see if you can write some subtraction number sentences.

English: Complete the comprehension questions of the persuasive text. Think about how we might be persuasive in our letters.

Maths: Spend 20 minutes on TT Rockstars. Complete as many Gig games as you can and try to move up a level! If you are feeling really brave you are welcome to challenge me to a timestable show down!

English: Think of as many adverbs for these verbs as you can (at least 4 for each!): jumping, running, hopping, skipping, singing. – Remember an adverb describes how the verb (the doing word) is done – running wildly

Maths: Show me your number bonds to 20 any way you like! You can draw them in pictures, write them as sums, draw them as base 10!
