Girls Football Tournament

On the 22nd November, the girls took part in the North Dorset U11 Football Tournament. Expectations were high as 12 months earlier they had won. The girls all looked amazing in their new kit, kindly sponsored by Astral Couriers.

Our first game was against Shaftesbury Abbey. We started strongly and dominated early possession. We were rewarded with Neve scoring our first goal. Shortly after Alexandra added a second much to the delight of the crowd. This was the final score with us winning 2-0.

Our second game was against St Mary The Virgin school. We pressed from the kick off and once again Neve scored our first goal. We continued to attack and this time it was Rhianna who scored our second. The final score was 2-0.

Our third league match was against Pimperne and we had seen in previous games that this was going to be a difficult game . The girls were superb and ran and ran and ran. Charlotte (our captain) hit the only goal with a screamer from outside the box. 1-0 to us.

Our final game in the league stages was against St Nick's it was clear that the girls were running out of energy but we ground out a 0-0 draw. When the league positions were announced, we had topped our group and were drawn to play Milldown Academy in the final.

In the final every player was amazing, Freya defended as if her life depended on it, Charlotte, Leonie and Neve ran the midfield. Pippa made a last minute save. But it was down to Rhianna to win us the match and she did that from their kick off as she chased the ball all the way through and tucked it inside the post for a very early goal. The rest of the match was quite even with both side having chances, but we held on to win.

So once again the girls were the winners of the North Dorset U11.

I would like to say well done to the team as every player contributed to our win: Pippa, Freya, Alexandra, Leonie, Neve, Charlotte (Capt), Hollie-Ann, Rhianna, Freya Beau.
