Welcome to
Welcome to Blandford St Mary Church of England Primary School. I feel immensely proud to be the Headteacher of this wonderful one-form entry school where children truly are at the heart of everything we do.
We offer excellent standards of care, guidance and support and a high-quality learning environment to support all learners equally. The school upholds an ethos of high expectations which provides children with challenging opportunities where children acquire skills, knowledge and confidence that can be applied to all future learning experiences. These opportunities encourage respect, self-belief, excellence and enjoyment and prepare our pupils for the next stage of their education.

Honoured to attend the Mayor Making Ceremony at the Corn Exchange in Blandford Forum today. Our School Council representatives were proud to witness this important community event and meet local civic leaders. Thank you for the warm welcome and for giving our students the opportunity to learn more about local democracy and public service. #schoolcouncil #mayor #education #blandfordforum #primaryschool

What a week it has been To our incredible Year 6s- we could not be prouder of you. Over the past few weeks you have shown determination, resilience, courage and maturity through SATs week, supporting one another and giving every challenge your best effort. You proved that "even if you're little, you can do a lot" and reminded us all just how amazing young people can be when they believe in themselves. Now the SATs are over... it's time for something magical, a little mischievous, and very well deserved ...because sometimes you have to be "a little bit naughty" to change your story You have grown into a group of confident, funny, creative and determined young people, and we cannot wait to celebrate everything you have achieved this year. #education #bigreveal #production #matilda #schoolplay
When the teacher talks for the next academic year start getting serious... did we mention we love you Mrs Beaver?! ... #education #funnyreel #teacherbesties #together #please

What a fantastic Year 4 residential! Over the past few days, the children have shown incredible teamwork, resilience and enthusiasm. From their scenic walk to Dancing Ledge to exciting team-building challenges and exploring the historic ruins of Corfe Castle , every moment was filled with adventure, laughter and learning. The children should be so proud of themselves for stepping out of their comfort zones, supporting one another and making memories that will last a lifetime #primaryschool #schooltrip #dorset #dancingledge #corfecastle
This week, our class completed their KS2 SATs- but SATs will never truly measure how incredible these children are. SATs do not show the courage it takes to keep going when things feel difficult. They do not measure kindness, laughter, friendship, resilience, determination or the way this class supports one another every single day. They cannot capture the confidence that has grown, the bravery shown or the wonderful personalities that light up our classroom. Teaching this class for the past two years has been one of our greatest privileges. We have watched every single child grow not only academically but as people- stronger, kinder, funnier, more resilient and more determined than they probably even realise themselves. We could not be prouder of everything they have achieved. Not just this week, but every step of the journey that brought them here. No test score could ever reflect how special this class is to us. They have worked unbelievably hard, shown incredible maturity and faced every challenge with courage and perseverance. They should leave this week holding their heads high and feeling immensely proud of themselves- because we certainly are. To our wonderful class: you are worth so much more than a set of SATs results and we hope you always remember that. With love and enormous pride Miss West & Mrs Dolman #primaryschool #education #sats #proud #amazingchildren

Year 3 had the BEST time on their trip to Cranborne Ancient Technology Centre! From stepping back in time to exploring ancient skills and crafts, the children threw themselves into every activity with curiosity and enthusiasm. Year 6 have been working incredibly hard in the lead up to SATs, so we made the most of the sunshine this afternoon with a well-earned treat. Thank you Mrs Beaver #primaryschool #year6 #workinghard #wellearned #treat
Today in Year 6 science, we explored how light travels. Using torches and pieces of card with holes, we investigated how light behaves and discovered that it travels in straight lines. By lining up the holes, we could see the light pass through clearly but when they were out of line, the light couldn't get through! A fun, hands-on experience that really helped bring our learning to life. #primaryschool #education #science #light #experiment
We had some very special visitors in Reception this week. The children loved meeting the Guinea pigs, learning how to care for them, and seeing how gentle and friendly they are. Lots of smiles, excitement and curious questions all around! A wonderful hands-on experience to support their learning about animals and how to look after living things. Thank you to one of our wonderful parents for making this happen. #primaryschool #receptionclass #animalvisit #earlyyears #schoollife.
