This newsletter has been written by the children, with Mrs Beaver's permission, after many requests by the children to write something on behalf of the school. So the following has been written by four brilliant writers :
In the first half-term back after Christmas, we had a productive seven weeks learning about the Ancient Greeks, the circulatory system, The Highwayman (both in Art and English) and much more.
In English, we worked on diary writing and emotive writing to create a diary from the point of view of Bess, the Highwayman and Tim the Ostler- all well known characters from The Highwayman poem - and also made our own versions with new characters to great success. To finish the term, we did independent writing on Best Friends: an illustration of a girl and a giraffe.
In guided reading we have read many different books, but we have recently read The Nowhere Emporium by Ross Mackenzie- which we all have enjoyed deeply. A class favourite has been Wolf Brother (many of us have gone on to read the series of books by Michelle Paver).
In PE we all have done many sports we all like but this term we have been doing gymnastics - jumps, rolls and partner work - which we have all mastered now. In the final week we played our interhouse football competition organised by Miss West. We’ve also had members of the class going out for girls’ football and netball.
Finally, we have also been invited back to Bryanston to watch a show and can’t wait for the free ice lolly!
