Homework

Homework for March and April:

As we head towards the SATs in May, we have finished the CGP booklets and started using green A4 books with work stuck in one place. This will be focused around SATs revision for children to do. We will be supplementing the Spag and reading too each week.

Over the Easter holidays there will also be a homework booklet for the children to dip in and out of, so they don't lose momentum before the tests. The more they can do, the better. Thank you for your support with this.

Autumn Homework weeks 8-14

The Homework Routine

Homework each week will usually be:-

3 x 10 minutes tests from SAT Buster 10-Minute Test books.

Reading comprehension 10 minute test

Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling 10 minutes test

Maths 10 minute test

10 spellings which are in the planner and also listed under here in a PDF.

Each test should take 10 minutes.  At the end of 10 minutes, stop, even if you haven't finished the test.  By the time we get to the summer term, you should be able to complete each test in 10 minutes mostly correctly.  At this time of the year, we do expect that this homework will be a challenge.

At the back of the booklet are the answers!  As we always say to the children, we would like them to mark the test with an adult and write their mark in at the end of the test.

Spellings are tested on a Monday and a new set of spellings given out.  I cannot stress enough the importance of learning these as you go along - there are just too many to rely on cramming immediataely before the May tests.  If you are struggling with weekend homework, it is fine to take the homework folder home earlier in the week, as we usually do the tests in the book in order.
